Tell me more about The Day please

Iyar 26 is a new date in commemoration of the victory over fascism that was included in the Jewish religious calendar as per initiative by German Zakharyaev, the President of the International Mountain Jew Charity Fund “STMEGI", Vice-President of the World Congress of Mountain Jews. According to the Jewish calendar May 9 1945 fell on Iyar 26 5705. On this "Jewish Victory Day" synagogues all over the world will be holding thanksgiving prayers in honor of Red Army soldiers who saved the Jewish people from the destruction by Nazis.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

It is important because the Jewish nation owes its existence to the victory over fascism during The Great Patriotic War. For, had the Red Army and its allies not have defeated Nazi Germany, it is very likely that the Germans would have brought to the end their monstrous plan about the "final solution of the Jewish question", that is complete physical annihilation of Jews throughout the world. During World War II the Nazis destroyed six million Jews, which is almost half of the entire Jewish population.

WHAT FOR WAS THIS DATE CREATED?

The purpose of The Day is to have the "Day of Salvation and Liberation" remain forever and for centuries to come standing equally with Jewish holidays like Pesach and Purim, that symbolize the victory over our enemies and deliverance from mortal danger. We want our grandchildren and their grandchildren to celebrate this day and remember those who gave their lives to save Jews from the hands of the ruthless executioners. Let the Jews all over the world say their "No!" to the attempts of rehabilitation of the fascists and their accomplices as well as to any attempt to rewrite history. We want to show certain European nations an example of gratitude and good memory.
