A FEW IDEAS
Despite the fact that many Jews valiantly and bravely fought against Nazi Germany and that Jewish people greatly suffered from fascism, no one in Israel - excepting some veterans' organizations - celebrates May 9 as Victory Day. We believe that it is wrong and unfair, for without this victory the Jewish people wouldn't exist now, as they would have been completely destroyed in gas chambers of the Third Reich. That is why we make all efforts to celebrate the Victory Day as the Day of Salvation and Liberation by Jews all over the world.
The Victory Day is a special holiday for all Jews because we've lost six million people during the war and the victory over fascism stopped the genocide. It is especially after May 9 1945 that our people felt liberated and saved and this is why we named this holiday the Day of Salvation and Liberation.
